I have fond memories of waking up early on Thanksgiving day and seeing my mom working on the turkey or some other part of the thanksgiving meal. I would help her if I could, but mostly I just sat back and watched her work in the kitchen. She had a rhythm to working in the kitchen and especially on this day. After the sun would come up, I sat in front of the TV, turn that big old knob on top of the TV (if you are my age you know we didn't have remotes or cable way back then) until it got to the Thanksgiving Day Parade. My sisters and I would watch with awe at all the floats go by and the bands play. After stuffing ourselves to the breaking point, we'd clean up, and that was where the children were included into Thanksgiving. My sisters and I were the designated dishwashers, we'd wash, dry and put away all the dishes, and then we'd all sit down to watch a bowl game of some sort.
This year, we'll have just our family and my husbands mom and dad. At first I was sad that we'd not have a huge crowd of people (I'd invited a couple from church as well but they had family come in town at the last minute). But now, today, as I reflect about my memories of Thanksgiving, I'm grateful that I am having a quiet family dinner and hope that Thanksgiving brings fond memories to my children as it did me.

My trip to Atlanta
It has been a while since posting, we've all had a nasty little bug go through all the kids and me. We are just now starting to feel back to "normal".
Wanted to post quickly though about my bff Julie. She and her husband went through the temple for the 1st time and we're sealed together with their daughter for time and all eternity!! I've known Julie for about 20 years now and can tell you it was amazing seeing them all dressed in white together as a family! Julie flew me into Atlanta, as well as our other friend from Utah and we went with her and her mom, dad, brother and sister in law to the Atlanta Temple on Thursday! I'm so glad that I could be a part of this special occasion.

New Calling

On Sunday I was released from Primary. I was so sad, I really loved Primary. Working with the little children and seeing their testimonys blossom was wonderful. The only comfort is that the new Primary Presidency will be outstanding and the kids will be loved and taken care of. So what is my new calling, if you know me you'll laugh, I am now the Relief Society Chorister.
I laughed when asked if I would take the calling, laughed because it was the last calling I ever thought I'd receive EVER! I don't know how to even direct music, I have a poor singing voice and hardly know any of the songs!! It could be worse though, it could be the Ward Chorister, sorry Megan, had to add that...

Venting
What is wrong with me?? I am so angry at EVERYTHING today... I woke up in just one of those moods, you know the one, when you are thinking evil, mean-spirited things, except in my case, I actually expressed how I felt. Josh got an ear full from the get go this morning and it has gotten progressively worse throughout the day, I am so angry at him. The poor guy, I don't know why I'm being so mean, I just don't like him today for some reason.
I know there is always the PMS factor, but in my case, it is targeted 100% to Josh and so I'm almost thinking it isn't PMS for that reason. My other theory is that it's because Josh is leaving and I'm feeling resentment towards him for leaving me for a year, raising our children, taking care of the house, etc, etc. Another possibility that Kayla mentioned was that I may putting up defense mechanisms up so that I won't be hurt when he does leave. I don't know what it is, but I hate feeling like this, I hate saying spiteful things to him, giving him nasty looks, I just can't stand being like this!
I know what you are thinking, well don't be that way, and I'm making an effort not too, I just seem to say things before thinking, before my body can stop me!!
So I'm going to list the positives of Josh and hopefully this will help with my dilema
1. Good dad (he's been working outside on there treehouse all day)
2. Hard worker (he works all the time, and goes to school and does side jobs just so I don't have to work)
3. Supportive (he goes to church every Sunday eventhough he'd rather not)
4. Generous (he is always helping others)
OK, that helps, I am going to dig deep inside and find some peace, breath in breath out, I'm really going to try!!

Obsess Much?
This week, my friend posted on her blog some scrambled up letters from her child's homework page. The letters were all related to Harry Potter. So I look over the letters and a few came to be instantely, and the rest I put aside for about 15 MINUTES!! Since then I have not been able to get much done, especially concentrating, I have the words all over sheets of paper trying to figure them out. Thank goodness there are only 2 left, someone for the love of pete, figure out these scrambled words!! I don't know if I can go the rest of the week not knowing...

Spider Snacks

I saw on my friends blog her adorable spider snacks she made for her child's class and I just had to do this with Cregan, Jordan (my niece) and Jack (Cregan's best friend) so we did, or rather they did. I had an example out and showed them how to put the spider together piece by piece and these are their creations. It was loads of fun, and for lunch that day we had bologna intestines (strips of bologna), orange brains (mandarin oranges) and cheese fingers (cheese sticks with indents) it was a yummy and gross lunch and the kids including Jordan loved it.

Halloween Festivities

This Halloween has been profoundly profitable for my little ones, we went trunk or treating last Saturday at church and they "racked up" on the candy, and now they have twice as much candy as they got on Saturday from treat or treating. It was a fun filled night last night. My niece was staying with us while her parents are on a much needed vacation in Seattle, so it was my 3 and Jordan. In addition my brother in law, his wife and their 2 kids and also my friend and his son went with us.
The kid were real troopers they ran and ran and most of the time remembered to say thank you and Happy Halloween. At one point throughout the night each of them would say it's time to have a break and a snack, because I'm SO HUNGRY. I'd ask if they wanted more supper when they got home? A look of utter confusion would cross there face, no mom I want candy was always there response...
